A note to our landlord from the poet neighbors, only a few hours after this endeavour:
[SynerCorp Landlord],
Sorry to bother you, but the aggression from your tenants has
escalated and I don't really feel as though I can speak with them.
The fire department and Austin police were called out a while ago by
another neighbor who feared someone was breaking into her house. It
turns out that her windows were vibrating from explosions going off
in the backyard of [SynerCorp Address]. My wife saw large bursts of flame
earlier. I never saw this but did hear later a loud explosive sound.
The police told us that your tenants were shooting b. b. guns at hair
spray cans and then throwing them into a fire in the backyard. Their
next door neighbor said they did the same thing last night but she
did not want to get involved. As I write this nearing 11 o'clock at
night we hear them laughing and hooting it up on the front porch. I
don't feel comfortable speaking with them. They seem to have become
more aggressive since the flagpole came down. They were given a
warning by APD. Hopefully it won't happen again.
The flagpole for the past three weeks or so, by the way, has been
lying haphazardly across the yard. A large pile of debris is visible
from the curb, though this is probably for the future trash
collection. I can't help but feel that the flagpole's persistent
existence in the yard is an aggressive gesture on their part. But
more than anything, they're disrupting our neighbors' and our sense
of well-being. We have young children here whom we were trying to get
into bed while this was going on. Windows are open because of the
warm weather. I'm not sure what toxins hair spray releases, but I
assume that's okay since the fire department must have checked it out.
Anyway, I'm hoping that you can speak to them. We don't want any
trouble with them, and I don't want to provoke them any further. The
older women who live next door to them are not feeling safe and I
resent their ongoing hostility.
Again, sorry to burden you with this. If I go down there I will be
angry and unable to calmly explain our position.
Best,
Dale
